Monday, September 28, 2026 had two openings on the same stretch of North Scottsdale Road. That morning, an Arizona family held the grand opening of a breakfast restaurant in a space a Canadian chain had just left. At the corner of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, a family restaurant group from Sonora was set to begin a soft opening in the old Carrabba's Italian Grill. Twelve days earlier, a few doors north of the breakfast room, a hospitality group already running restaurants in Scottsdale opened a robata grill in the former Chauncey Social.
In one month, the stretch between Frank Lloyd Wright and Bell Road got new restaurant tenants in three spaces, and every new operator comes from close by. One is a family that bought the lease. One is a group that already runs several Scottsdale restaurants. One is a company whose Mexican locations are in Hermosillo and Mexicali, in the neighboring state of Sonora. A fourth restaurant from a group that already runs a Scottsdale restaurant is scheduled to open next door before the end of the year.
| Address | What was there | What's there now | Status as of October 12, 2026 |

| 17757 N. Scottsdale Rd., Suite 103 | OEB Breakfast Co. | The Breakfast Table | Grand opening September 28 |
| 17007 N. Scottsdale Rd. | Carrabba's Italian Grill | Quiriego Cocina Rústica | Soft opening |
| 17001 N. Scottsdale Rd. | Coming: Stone & Vine Urban Italian | Not yet open, targeting Q4 2026 |
The Breakfast Room Opened Up Because OEB Left the United States
The chain of events started with a corporate decision made outside Arizona. On its U.S. site, OEB Breakfast Co. says it has "concluded its U.S. operations." The notice says the Scottsdale location has closed, that the Newport Beach restaurant is becoming a separate concept called OEB Kitchen under its own local owners, and that OEB will keep operating in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. The notice doesn't give a reason for the Scottsdale closure beyond the end of U.S. operations.
An Arizona family took over the lease. Forking Scottsdale reported on September 10 that Ken, Susie and Kenny had bought the former OEB space. The newsletter's September 24 issue named Ken Vondra and his son as owners of The Breakfast Table and listed a Monday, September 28 grand opening. Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
In its September 2026 openings roundup, PHOENIX magazine describes the menu as waffles, pancakes, burritos, omelets, skillets, burgers and wraps. It's a straightforward breakfast-and-lunch menu. The larger change is ownership, because a room once run by a company that now operates only in Canada is now run by a local family.
KUZA Comes From a Group With Several Scottsdale Restaurants
Next door, the former Chauncey Social at 17767 N. Scottsdale Road went to a group that already runs restaurants in Scottsdale. KUZA opened on September 16. Forking Scottsdale's opening report credits it to Clive Collective. The group's own site lists Cala, The Americano, Tell Your Friends, Neon Spur and The Bungalow Kitchen along with KUZA. Some coverage calls the company "The Clive Collection." The company itself uses Clive Collective.
The kitchen is built around a binchōtan-fired robata grill, a raw bar and sushi, with an open kitchen that keeps the fire visible. According to the same report, KUZA brings in seafood from Tokyo twice a week. PHOENIX magazine singled out the chicken negima, sushi flights, Spanish grilled octopus and the cocktail program.
The executive chef also came up through Valley kitchens. Arizona Foothills Magazine reported in April that Erik Davila has more than 16 years of experience. Before KUZA he was executive chef at Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey, and his résumé includes Sumomaya, Shoga and A Latte Vino. Both the chef and the group behind KUZA have track records in Valley restaurants.
Quiriego Came North From Hermosillo
The farthest-traveled newcomer is at the south end of the stretch. Quiriego Cocina Rústica has taken over the former Carrabba's Italian Grill at Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, 17007 N. Scottsdale Road. This is the restaurant's first U.S. location. Katz Design Group confirmed a September 28 soft-opening date to Forking Scottsdale. The newsletter's October 1 issue reported that the doors had quietly opened.
Quiriego started in Hermosillo, Sonora, in 2019. A profile from El Economista, republished by the Hermosillo site La Voz del Pitic, identifies Mario Abeyta Ruiz as the founder. Forking Scottsdale's First Look, published October 6, describes the Scottsdale restaurant as a family project led by Mario and chef Carlos Abeyta. The same piece names Hermosillo and Mexicali as the brand's Mexican markets.
The cooking draws on Sonoran home cooking and regional ingredients: live fire, grilled meats, roasted chiles, handmade tortillas and mesquite. The Scottsdale menu presents it as contemporary Sonoran cuisine. The First Look praised the octopus and a charred, smoked Caesar salad.
A few practical details are still missing. As of this writing, Quiriego's own website still labels the Scottsdale location "Próxima Apertura," or opening soon. No grand-opening date has been published, and the First Look didn't list hours. Calling ahead is the most reliable way to plan a visit during the soft opening.
With KUZA cooking over binchōtan and Quiriego over mesquite, this part of Scottsdale Road now has two restaurants that opened in the same month and are both built around an open fire.
Next Door, Stone & Vine Is Still Coming
The fourth space follows the same pattern. Stone & Vine Urban Italian is planned for 17001 N. Scottsdale Road, right next to Quiriego, with a Q4 2026 target. The brand's website lists it under JGP Restaurant Concepts, the same company behind Sophia's Kitchen in Scottsdale. According to Forking Scottsdale, the owners describe it as a casual Italian restaurant meant to feel "comfortable, familiar" and a step up from everyday dining.
Coverage has gone back and forth on one detail. A September 24 item called this the brand's first Scottsdale location. An October 8 update changed that to a return to Scottsdale. No exact opening date has been announced.
Once Stone & Vine opens, 17001 and 17007 will hold an Italian restaurant and a Sonoran one next to each other, both run by family or locally rooted groups. Italian food will be back at this corner, next to the former Carrabba's, from an operator with a restaurant already in Scottsdale.
Close By, but Not Yet Confirmed
Two more projects in the immediate area are on the calendar but haven't opened:
- Tail Gunner, Scottsdale Airpark. This is a planned cigar lounge, whiskey bar and coffee house with a World War II aviation theme. The coffee comes from a partnership with Kentucky-based Fante's Coffee House, which created three custom blends. The owners say the ventilation and air filtration were designed so guests don't leave smelling of smoke. The opening target is still 2026, and no street address has been published.
- Mendocino Farms, Scottsdale Promenade. Phoenix New Times reported in February that the California sandwich-and-salad chain planned a second Scottsdale location at 16243 N. Scottsdale Road sometime in 2026. The sources reviewed for this article don't confirm that it has opened.
Neither one changes what has already happened at 17007 and 17757 through 17767. They do show that the area around the Airpark is still drawing new restaurants after the September openings.
A Weekday on This Stretch, as of Mid-October
The practical result is that a weekday here now runs from breakfast through dinner. The Breakfast Table serves from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every day. In the evening, there's KUZA's robata grill and Tokyo seafood a few doors north, or Quiriego's Sonoran live-fire menu at Frank Lloyd Wright while it's in its soft opening. By late fall, Stone & Vine is expected to add Italian next door.
As of mid-October, the three reopened spaces are held by a restaurant group with several Scottsdale concepts, an Arizona family and a Hermosillo restaurant family, and the fourth space is waiting on a group that already operates in Scottsdale.
